I think Blaise (and in many senses Draco, too) was always a spoilt rich kid with few fucks to give because money solved a lot of problems... Except for all the ones it doesn't. And after a particularly harsh last year, and the even more brutal summer for the Slytherins as guilt was assessed and assigned, I doubt he gives much of a fuck about the things he can't fix either. Which gets you a weird combination of reserved and tactical and yet forthright. Lavender is sort of the mirror version of that, more open by nature and learning (becoming more) reserve(d) through her experiences last year. So in the present they're similar in a lot of ways they didn't used to be, but both have experience (and characteristics) the other lacks that can prove beneficial if they're open for it.
I know how you like Lavender, so I gave her a lot of thought, and this was what happened. I needed someone to make her happier, and Blaise was good enough to volunteer. (I mean, Hermione tried, but she just kept making things worse. lol) Very glad (and relieved) if you've enjoyed them. ❤️ (I mean, you know me, it's a hug in 20k words or more... lol)
